Maleny is a small, scenic town 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Brisbane on the Blackall Range overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Nearby towns include Landsborough, Montville, Peachester, Palmwoods and Hunchy. Nearby places of geographical significance include the Glass House Mountains and Baroon Pocket Dam. The town hosts the Maleny Wood Expo From Chainsaw to Fine Furniture each year, hosted by Barung Landcare and showcases the regions finest wood artisans.

As well as being on the Hinterland tourist drive, Maleny attracts day trippers from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast who are attracted to the various stores, art galleries and specialty shops.
Maleny is home to a large number of cooperative enterprises. There are art galleries, health food and organic produce stores, cafes, a co-op credit union, thriving business centre, rural settlements, alternative schools, alternative medical treatment, organic farming, intentional communities including the internationally award-winning Crystal Waters Permaculture Village and the Fountainhead organic retreat and education centre which received an award from the federal government in 2011 for its contribution to finding holistic solutions for depression and anxiety.
Maleny hosted the Maleny Folk Festival from its inception in 1987 to 1993, when it was moved to the nearby town of Woodford and renamed to the Woodford Folk Festival.

Boggabri’s main tourist attraction is Gin’s Leap, so-called after a story of an Aboriginal girl who jumped from the cliff while trying to escape a group of men in the 17th or 18th century.
With a rich agricultural history and several recently opened coal mines the town is set for further expansion. The town boasts a nine hole golf course, bowling club and RSL Club. A modern motel, Caravan Park which has 3 cabins available (which bookings can be made through the Narrabri Visitor Information Centre, they are self-contained but must supply your own linen) and two hotels provide accommodation in the town while fuel and motor repairs are also available.
The main business area of Boggabri has over the years been found in three different streets. This makes for an interesting mix of architecture which can be explored with a walk along the Boggabri Heritage Trail.
