The practice is the only private medical centre in Rosebery and is attached to the community hospital. The practice has the capacity for two full time doctors who are supported by a full time CDM trained Registered Nurse and practice staff. The doctors also service the surrounding communities of Tullah and Zeehan. Ochre Health took over the existing service in February 2014.

Rosebery is close to 90-minutes’ drive south of Burnie (125 kilometres /78 miles) on the west coast of Tasmania.
Gold was found in the area in 1893, zinc and lead in 1894 and copper in 1897. The Emu Bay Railway from Burnie reached Rosebery in 1899, and it has operated as a mining town since around 1905, yielding ore with an estimated value of AUD8 billion. Rosebery’s mine has produced more wealth than any other mine on the west coast.
You cannot fail to notice that Rosebery is a mining community – the mine dominates the small townscape. And yet Rosebery has an unexpected visual appeal, held so close by the folds of the surrounding hills. In addition, you can visit Rosebery’s Montezuma Falls which is Tasmania’s highest waterfall which has a scenic track just 10 minutes’ drive from the town.
